Never judge a cafe by its size, because you’ll never know how their serving can fill your hungry tummy. I found my favorite café at the back of Central Bank in Davao City (beside Johnny’s Cupcake). Humble yet cozy, not as huge as it appears on my photos, but trust me, if you are looking for good pasta and salad in Davao City, Rego’s Café is the place to be.

I would never have heard of this place if it were not for the Davao Food Appreciation Tour 2012 (DFAT 2012), it’s my first time in Davao so I have no idea where to dine. The food is impeccable and the service is superb!

A must-try is Rego’s Marinara Pasta (Solo/Php 115-Regular/Php195), it is mixed with shrimps, fish, basil, olives, squid with tomatoes, capers and parmesan cheese. The pasta is full of flavor. I could tell by its taste and aroma that it is made of purely fresh ingredients which are nourishing for the body. The sauce has this good balanced flavor, not too sweet or salty, it has the right amount of olives, herbs and garlic.

In addition to the other pastas that are to die for are Rego’s Alfredo Pasta, Rego’s Gambero Basil Pesto and the Shrimp Arrabiata. Alfredo Pasta (Solo/Php115-Regular/Php195) is made of creamy garlicky white sauce, ham, mushrooms, topped with bacon and cheese. Gambero Basil Pesto (Solo/Php 100-Regular/Php 185) is pasta with sautéed garlic in extra virgin olive oil, fresh basil, and shrimps with loads of parmesan cheese. And since I’m a Bicolana, I like spicy foods, Shrimp Arrabiata (Solo/Php 120-Regular/Php 200) earned my approval too! This pasta is cooked with spice shrimps, bell peppers, and tomatoes. And oh, did I mention about their Fish and Chips and Chicken with sauce? Who wouldn’t love their garlicky French fries?

I sure love everything they served here at Rego’s Café, certainly the best café I tried in Davao City. Not to mention that their price, considering the quality of food is affordable too. Solo pasta starts at Php 100, and Regular pasta at Php 185. Not every day do I get to stumble on a homey café that serves healthy and organic foods, so I am so thankful for DFAT 2012 for introducing Rego’s Café.
