This stormy season, be ready to get stoked in Pagudpud! Did you know that an emerging surf spot is found in Ilocos Norte? Yes! The alluring Blue Lagoon or Maira-ira Beach in Pagudpud is now a mecca for surfing. So why not book cheap flights now to Ilocos Norte!

The swells of the Blue Lagoon are perfect for beginners. In fact, Mike Oida of Kapuluan Vista Resort in Blue Lagoon showed us basic lessons in surfing like how to stay afloat on your surfboard. To be honest, I was scared to try surfing at first because I can’t swim.

But because Mike’s kind employees are very helpful, I gave surfing in Pagudpud a shot! For Php 200 per hour, you can rent a surfboard and go bask in the waves. But if you are a beginner like me and you need a wave spotter or pusher, you get an instructor for Php 200 per hour.

Blue Lagoon is one of my favorite beaches in Luzon. Its laidback ambience, clear aquamarine waters and the beach with the wind blowing makes it an ideal place for a weekend get-away. The islets and hilly ravine surrounding the beach adds more drama to surf spot in Ilocos Norte.

Once you’re tired of surfing in Pagudpud, Kapuluan Vista Resort which this surfer dude Mike Oida owns with his wife is a good place to rest and eat. We we’re welcomed by delectable frozen Margaritas! Kapuluan Vista Resort offers home-made foods made from handpicked fresh ingredients and no preservatives added. This is definitely one of the best meals I had during our Lakbay Norte Tour.

For starters we were served with Cabbage Parsley Soup and Polynesian-Style Kapuluan Kinilaw. We also tried their Chicken Kiglawin, Breaded Fish with Fern Salad and my favorite Bagnet Ceviche. For our dessert we had the most delicious leche flan I’ve ever tasted which is actually eggless.

because we’re hot! LOL with Marcos (Ambot-ah), Ed (SoloflightED), Kara (Travel Up), Angel (Lakwatsero), Christian (Lakad Pilipinas) and James (Journeying James) – photo from Marcos

Gusto ko rin dyan sa Blue Lagoon although medyo takot ako sa waves nya hehe
Want to try surfing din dyan soon. Yung sa La Union pa lang na-try ko and that’s three years ago pa.
Dapat yata matutu ka munang lumangoy bago ka mag-aral ng surfing LOL. The surf is unforgiving, baka malunod ka.
We stayed in kapuluan 4 years ago. I liked the place. It reminded me of Bali. The owners were also friendly. Too bad the swell that time weren’t for beginners.
I’ve always wanted to try surfing.
It’s one of the major reasons why I forced myself to learn how to swim, hehe.
Any tips for surfing newbies?
