Singapore’s first integrated resort – Resorts World Sentosa which opened in January 2010 had 12 major launches over the past 2 years.  The Marine Life Park (MLP) was finally opened last November 2012 and I got to witness the dreamy Grand Opening of Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore last December.

“Resorts World Sentosa is set out to be the integrated resort that would transform Singapore’s tourism landscape, bring economic benefits to Singapore and contribute to the local community. With unwavering commitment by all stakeholders, we are proud of it”, says Mr. Tan Hee Teck, CEO of Resorts World Sentosa during the press conference.  “This is the only integrated resort in the world that a visitor can spend over the three full days in engaging and fun-filled activities. We have six hotels, a major convention center, a great Maritime Museum, a world-renowned spa, and two mega attractions – Universal Studios Singapore and Marine Life Park”, he added.

On my 1st day in Sentosa, I got to enter the Adventure Cove Waterpark with bloggers and press from Thailand and Malaysia. Thanks kindly to my friend Melo for the referral.

At night, I joined more bloggers and press from Indonesia, Vietnam, Korea, China, Australia, and Russia to watch the thrilling magical show of Incanto staged at Resorts World Sentosa.  Incanto featured stunning illusions and acrobatic sequences by performers from all over the world, including the world-renowned illusionist Joe Labero.

I blissfully toured the attractions in Sentosa with Jin from Brunei and Matthew of Resorts World the next day.  Matt has been so kind and accommodating; he even took us to the Angry Bird Cable Car and Tiger Sky Tower in Sentosa even though it’s not part of the itinerary.

Then finally at night the Grand Opening of Resorts World Sentosa was held at the Lake of Dreams with public performances and a fireworks display at the waterfront promenade. After that, a gala dinner for 1,600 invited guests took place at the colossal Resorts World Convention Center where I got to see Ms. Sarah Brightman, the world’s best-selling soprano, performed.  I also had a great conversation with the kind Sanjay, who worked as an editor for Conde Nast Traveler for 15 years.

[...] I’ve never been inside an oceanarium before, even the one in Manila. I remember seeing the Siam Ocean World in Siam Paragon in Bangkok, Thailand in 2009  but I didn’t go inside. So I was quite surprised with the vastness of Sentosa’s aquarium, part of the Marine Life Park (this is the dry experience while the Adventure Cove Waterpark is the wet experience), called S.E.A Aquarium which was unveiled November  2012  in time for  the Resorts World Sentosa Grand Opening. Been to SG last October 2012. Yes I agree I haven’t thoroughly explore RW, SEA Aquarium, etc. We only visited Universal Studios at Sentosa Island, River Cruise, Gardens by the Bay along with the world famous Marina Bay Sands and the Singapore Flyer at a closer look. We also did the Hop on, Hop Off city tour whole day in the last day which we enjoined so much of what SG is. But truly it’s not enough and wish to live their for quite sometime. But nah, its quite expensive. Hahaha.
