KAWASAN FALLS: From Oslob, Cebu City and Moalboal

Kawasan Falls in the once sleepy town of Badian in South Cebu has been attracting both local and foreign tourists alike because of its irresistible turquoise water and exhilarating canyoneering activity.  It’s one of the most popular Instagram-worthy destinations in the Philippines.  This 3-tiered waterfalls is located in Brgy. Matutinao that makes up the Matutinao River System, said to be one of the cleanest inland body of water in the country.

Kawasan Falls can be reached from popular tourist destinations like Oslob, Oslob, Cebu City, Dumaguete City, Barili and Moalboal.

HOW TO GET TO KAWASAN FALLS

CEBU CITY TO KAWASAN FALLS

 

STEP 1: There are several airlines that fly between Manila and Cebu City.  From the city proper, you can take a jeep, taxi, Uber or Grab to South Bus Terminal located near E-Mall (Elizabeth Mall).

STEP 2:  Ride Ceres Bus (yellow bus) to Bato via Barili.  Make sure it’s via Barili because the buses going to Bato via Oslob won’t pass by Kawasan Falls since its route is on the other side.  Be warned that lines can be pretty long during holidays and weekends. So better be there early.

Bus fare to Kawasan falls from Cebu City is roughly PHP 150/ USD 3 (EURO 3/SGD 4/MYR 12) and travel time is roughly 3 hours.

Make sure you inform the conductor or driver to drop you off at the jumping-off point to Kawasan Falls.

STEP 3: Once you get off, follow the sign that says “This Way to Kawasan Falls”.  Locals may offer to guide you to the waterfalls, it is required since quite easy to find the main waterfalls but if you want to help the locals feel free to hire one.

STEP 4: Pay the entrance fee of PHP 40/USD 0.79 (EURO 0.67/SGD 1/MYR 3.25).

 

 

OSLOB TO KAWASAN FALLS

 

STEP 1:  How to go to Kawasan Falls from Oslob? First, ride the bus to Bato.

STEP 2: Get off at Bato and transfer to a bus to Badian. Alternatively, you can also hop on a bus to Cebu via Barili. Travel time is about 1.5 hours and bus fare is roughly PHP 100/USD 2 (EURO 2/SGD 3/SGD 8).

STEP 3:  Alight at Kawasan Falls and follow the sign to the waterfalls.

STEP 4:  Pay the admission fee of PHP 40/USD 0.79 (EURO 0.67/SGD 1/MYR 3.25).

 

MOALBOAL TO KAWASAN FALLS

 

STEP 1:  Moalboal is quite close to Kawasan Falls.  So you can just hail a bus bound for Cebu City and alight at Kawasan Falls.

STEP 2:  Follow the sign to Kawasan Falls.

Step 3:  Settle the admission fee of PHP 40/USD 0.79 (EURO 0.67/SGD 1/MYR 3.25).

DUMAGUETE CITY TO KAWASAN FALLS

 

STEP 1: From Dumaguete City, take a tricycle to Ceres Bus Terminal.

STEP 2: Ride the Ceres bus (yellow bus) to Cebu City. Take note that the bus will board a huge ferry that can transport vehicles.  Tell the conductor or driver you are getting off at Bato.  Fare is about PHP 100/USD 2 (EURO 2/SGD 3/SGD 8) (I can’t remember exactly how much, will update this once I find my notes.) First trip is at 4:00 AM, last trip is 11:30 PM.

STEP 3:  The bus will continue to Cebu City via Oslob so once the ferry crosses to Bato, you can get off at Bato and transfer to a bus headed to Cebu via Badian or Cebu via Barili.

STEP 4: Tell the driver you are getting off at Kawasan Falls.  Follow the sign that says “This Way to Kawasan Falls”.  You may get a guide if you want, it’s a way to help the locals.

STEP 4: Pay the entrance fee of PHP 40/USD 0.79 (EURO 0.67/SGD 1/MYR 3.25).
