So you’ve heard of the KL Hop On Hop Off City Tour By Double Decker Bus, but did you know you can also do a night excursion around Kuala Lumpur? Yes, this tour is perfect for those wanting to shun the unforgiving sun at day time. Managed by the Hop on Holidays Sdb Bhd, the KL Hop on Night Excursion Tour takes you around Kuala Lumpur’s best attractions on an open deck bus before dusk to nighttime. Savor the cool night breeze as the bustling city dazzles with bright lights!
To give you an idea of the route, here’s a list of the attractions we visited during the KL Hop on Night Excursion Tour:
Federal Territory Mosque (Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan)
Our jaunt commenced at Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC), and then we headed straight to Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan. The usual route though of the night excursion on an open deck bus takes the passengers first to Kuala Lumpur City Gallery and Chinatown (Petaling Street) before driving to the mosque. But since we visited the former earlier that day, we skipped it and dashed to the latter.
Crowning Jalan Duta, the Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan which is heavily inspired by Turkey’s Blue Mosque, radiates with a delightful mix of Malay and Ottoman architectural flair. This grandiose navy mosque is draped by 22 domes and undeniably, the main one is akin to that of Masjid Imam of Isfahan in Iran.
Although rightly famous for the colossal Hindu deity Murungan, Batu Caves has much more to offer to tourists, from the gorgeous limestone caves fringed by lavish Hindu shrines and traditional Hindu drawings, to the crowds of resident friendly pigeons, snakes, spiders, cynomolgus monkeys and fruit bats. Batu Caves is also a perfect spot for rock climbing in Kuala Lumpur boasting of 160 climbing routes. For adventure seekers, contact local adventure companies for spelunking and abseiling trips. Amusingly, the age-old lime stones here are believed to have existed since 400 million years ago. They were the sanctuary of the Temuan tribe of Orang Asli back in the days.
Taste of Malaysian Satay Restaurant
You’ll be excited to know that dinner is actually included in the KL Hop On Night Excursion Tour. We had a stop-over at a satay station aptly named Taste of Malaysian Satay Restaurant. We feasted on delicious satay beef and chicken matched with Mee Rebus – yellow noodles with thick gravy and topped with egg, bean sprouts, garlic and chopped onions.
Hulu Langat Lookout Point
To cap the night, we made a brief stop at Bukit Belacan Hill along Jalan Ampang-Hulu Langat (Jalan Tasik Tambahan) in Selangor States to relish the panoramic view of Kuala Lumpur glowing with city lights.
