Clad by soaring palm trees and tropical garden, Ferra Resort Siargao is a blissful beach retreat located in Malinao Beach, in the outskirts of General Luna, Siargao. This aesthetic newly renovated stay is a nod to the island’s tropical atmosphere. It’s an ideal location if you want to soak up Siargao’s serene beach vibe. This is where most swanky resorts are concentrated, far from the noise and bustle of downtown General Luna and Cloud 9.

THE VILLA
We stayed at the spacious Villa Amakan, which is built in line with the indigenous architecture and designed in harmony with Siargao’s pleasant weather. It is giving off a very Filipino vibe accommodation, unlike the usual Bali-style resorts in the island. Walls are painted in white to match the wood and bamboo accents in the room. The ceiling is made of sawali, accentuated with woven, rattan hanging lamps.
Entrance opens onto a living room with a cozy sofa made of wood, a table made of bamboo. Next to the sala is a fully-equipped kitchen. There’s refrigerator, gas stove, microwave oven, and even drinking water. And there’s a wooden dining table with seating for two.
Upstairs is the air-conditioned bedroom with a comfortable queen sized-bed packed with lots of soft pillows. You’ll definitely sleep in cloud nine.
Ferra Resort Siargao’s bedroom opens onto a private balcony with a tranquil view of the tropical garden. It has a dreamy day bed for soaking up the garden views. The garden here really makes it a super relaxing oasis.
The bathroom is clean, with a hot and cold rain shower. Eco-friendly initiatives include zero-single used plastic for toiletries.
Although the vibe at Ferra Resort Siargao is like you’re isolated from the rest of the world in a paradisiacal island, you can still stay connected online as there’s free Wi-Fi in the room.
Ferra Resort Siargao is newly renovated resort and just recently opened (about 2 years ago), so there’s no pool yet and restaurant. You can dine at the resort beside it or drive to General Luna’s tourism road where most cafes and restaurants in Siargao are concentrated.
THE KITCHEN
But they have a common kitchen where you can bring some fresh catch of the day and cook your own food. You can buy fish and seafood from the market or local fishermen. Just ask the resort staff for ideas.
THE BEACH
They also have breezy, sea-facing cottages near the swimmable Malinao Beach. If you want to feel the sand under your feet after your morning coffee, go for a beach-front cottage.
You’ll wake up to the soothing sound of gently-lapping waves just steps away from your bed. Shrubs and plants are planted by the beach and the navy-blue beach chair here is a perfect place to hang out.
If you can’t get enough of the beach, you can also head to the Secret Beach (Doot Beach) a few minutes away by motorbike. Head to the reception, and the helpful staff will assist you. Motorbike rates starts at ₱350 ($5.97) per day, gas not included. General Luna tourism road can also be reached easily roughly 15 minutes by motorbike. The Siargao Wakepark is also about 9 minutes’ drive, if you want to try wakeboarding.
Ferra Resort Siargao can also arrange a pick and drop-off for you at Siargao Airport or Dapa Port. Rate starts at ₱300 ($5.12) per head.
Overall, I love our experience at Ferra Resort Siargao. I’m still dreaming of our stay at Villa Amakan that fans out under the canopy of banana and palm trees in a tropical garden and the deserted beach and coconut farms nearby that beckon in between. I can’t forget Ferra Resort Siargao’s warm and friendly staff who provide excellent service and treat you like a friend.
