Bohol is like a condensed version of the entire Philippines; azure beaches, vast agricultural land, mist-filled mountains, pristine waterfalls and age-old Spanish-era churches. One of Bohol’s most popular beaches, Alona Beach in Panglao Island has reached critical mass in popularity and is quite the scene with tourists, locals and expats, who come here to swim, snorkel or go island hopping. Meanwhile, resort and hotels in Alona Beach have never stopped expanding, but nothing comes close to Henann Resort Bohol in terms of all-out-beach bliss factor.
It was mid-October, off-peak season, yet I was craving for an anti-dote to our adventure-filled trips. Thankfully, the invite to fly me and my friends to Bohol came at the perfect time. I was excited to embark on this trip, because aside from the much-needed get-away, I was traveling to Bohol with friends, unlike the last time when even if I was copiously pampered at a nearby boutique resort, I felt sad being alone. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with traveling alone, obviously, I do that most of the time, but there are places like Boracay and Bohol that are best enjoyed with friends or family.
It was almost lunch when we arrived in Bohol, as we got close to the reception hall, the massive scale of Henann Resort Bohol became apparent. This opulent, newcomer resort is the biggest resort in the province, with 400 world-class accommodations proudly sitting on a lush 6.5 hectare property. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, something that I always look forward to whenever I walk in on a posh resort. Check-in was a breeze and we were ushered to our room. Though I had silently wished for a villa, a sea view or a pool view room, the superior room that face the road was also okay as it was equally spacious and cost-effective, flaunting the same style as the other rooms.
Our superior room is Filipino-inspired using local materials like shells as accents pieces. The littoral-inspired interior exude out a soothing, island vibe. It is stylishly-designed with neutral tones from light to dark wood and cerulean blue accents that reflect the serenity of the ocean. The superior room is furnished with one queen sized bed and one single bed that can accommodate three people comfortably. Needless to say, sleeping on the marshmallow-y bed was heavenly.
It has a spacious balcony with lounge chairs and a table perfect for sipping coffee or tea in the morning before taking a dip in the pool. Smoking is permitted in your own balcony by the way.
Our superior room had all the luxury trappings you expect to find in a posh resort; individually-controlled air-conditioning, cable TV with international channels, free Wi-Fi, safety deposit box, phone with IDD and NDD (charge), personal refrigerator, and coffee and tea making facility. There is no minibar though. Rooms are kept clean with twice daily housekeeping service.
The bathroom is pretty spacious too, equipped with a walk-in shower, a bath tub, a bidet spray, hair dryer and daily supplies of toiletries.
It’s pretty hard to imagine a more majestic location here than Henann Resort Bohol when looking for a beach-front resort in Bohol. The sea view spreads out before you like a sapphire blanket and though everything here is within easy reach, you’ll feel a world away, lulled into torpor by the sun and by the tropical breeze.
All this indulgence needed to be counterpoised by some activity and Henann Resort Bohol’s most attractive assets are its pools – they have three irresistibly azure pool, all hemmed in by swaying palm trees! Two of the pools are looking out over the beach and the bay. Henann Resort Bohol’s pool is lined with vivid cobalt tiles to match the parasols and loungers that surround it.
And guess what, we stayed at the pool all day, forgetting our initial plan of exploring the countryside and island hopping! We’re spoiled for distraction indeed!
And oh, did I mention about the Pool Bar? Yes, the eye-catching pool is best enjoyed while you sup on lethally tasty fruit punches or mojitos! The bartenders will be glad to take your orders anytime from 10:00am – 10:00pm.
The Sea Breeze Café Beach Club, the main dining area at Henann Resort Bohol, has both a sense of casualness and a sophisticated quality. The lush buffet here is something of an event with freshly baked pastries, home-made cakes, lechon, grilled barbecue, fish and shrimp, cheeses and meats, fresh fruit, pasta, salad, an eggs menu and other hot dishes cooked to order, among others. All this is washed down with a first-class cappuccino or tea and a view of the gorgeous pool and beach.
Sea Breeze Café serves buffet lunch between 12nn to 2:30pm while the dinner buffet is available from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Aside from the opulent buffet, you may also order food items ala carte as well as refreshing drinks from 10:00am to 12:00mn (last call is at 11:30pm).
You’ll be glad to know that walk-ins are welcome to dine at Sea Breeze Café Beach Club.

Meanwhile, the posh Christina’s is all about glamour dining in an intimate but relaxed venue. You can have a family-style dinner or make a reservation for a more romantic dining experience. Order a bottle from the extensive wine list for the table along with Western cuisines. We sampled their five-course meal for dinner, and I was digging the tuna square and truffle duck breast.
Operating hours for Christina’s

One time I had an upset stomach, so my friends requested for in-room dining for me. The staff ensured I was well fed by bringing requested dishes and drinks to my door. In-room dining service is open from 6:00 AM to 12:00 MN.
The Kai Spa at Henann Resort Bohol offers relaxing treatments and luxury spa where therapists will soothe and relax you with fresh-scented organic scrubs and essential oils so you’ll smell as sweet as the nearby garden. My friends Kenneth and Sarah tried the massage here which starts at PHP 800. If your wallet is well-endowed, you can try the more expensive spa.
GYM AND FITNESS CENTER
For guests who don’t want to miss on their daily fitness routine, head to the gym and fitness center inside the resort which is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The gym is open anytime between 6am to 10pm and their dedicated staff will be there ready to assist you with your needs.
Situated in Henann resort Bohol’s ground floor, the mini shop offers souvenir items, essentials and even snacks and drinks. It is open from 6:00 AM to 12 MN.
Overall, my experience at Henann Resort Bohol was great. The rooms are designed for comfort and the resort services are fabulously spoiling. Undeniably, Henann Resort Bohol was built to satisfy every guest’s whims. I am looking forward to bringing my family here on my next visit.
