Detailed travel blog about Siargao Tourist spots and things to do and Siargao itinerary.
Siargao exudes with dramatic coastlines, tropical island cliches, palm-fringed roads, and emerald green coves that are blissfully devoid of luxury trappings. No wonder it is now a favorite of foreign and local tourists alike. It was my first time to visit Siargao, so I made sure I try the popular tours in the island. I allotted 5 days for our trip, so we can fully enjoy the tour and have some free time. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate on our last day, so we missed Cloud 9, the popular surfing spot.
Surfing was the reason why Siargao was put on the tourist map. Siargao is dubbed as the “Surfing Capital of the Philippines.” And surfing in Siargao can be done all-year round, you just have to know where to go, and the best way is to ask the local surfers. The peak swell season in Siargao is from May to November, but if you’re into surfing, best to visit around September to November during the rainy seasons in the Philippines. There are also international surfing competitions being held on the Siargao every September. If you’re not into surfing, don’t fret, because Siargao will surprise you with its immaculate natural attractions that will make your jaw drop! We visited during summer – May, and we were able to enjoy the island with a good weather during our stay, except our last day. The summer season, from March to May is a good time to visit if you want to experience island hopping and land tours.
Here’s my detailed guide to Siargao Tourist Spots. I also wrote a sample Siargao Itinerary below, just scroll down.

One of the most popular Siargao tours is the Tri-Island Tour, which typically includes a visit to Naked Island, Guyam Island, and Daku Island. I booked a tour via Klook (join tour), see the link below to book. And it was worth it, since the tour is wallet-friendly, I’d recommend this for solo travelers and for a group of 2-3 people.

NAKED ISLAND
This island is named such because it is virtually empty/naked. No trees or plants or anything. Just pure cream sand lapped by turquoise sea. It’s a good island for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling, but it can get pretty crowded during summer so I didn’t really enjoy it. There’s a tourist guide here that offers to take drone videos and shots for a minimal fee.
DAKU ISLAND
Frolic in the white powdery sand and cerulean waters of Daku Island. The usual lunch stop for the Tri-Island Hopping Tours in Siargao. You can go swimming or snorkeling here while you wait for the local cooks to prepare the seafood lunch (boodle fight) included in the tour package. The expansive shore here is dotted with native huts where you can relax after swimming. I also heard that during the surf season, it’s also a good spot for surfing.
- Daku Island Entrance Fee: ₱100 ($1.76) per person
GUYAM ISLAND
- Our last stop for our Siargao Island Hopping is Guyam Island, a small, palm-fringed island off the coast of General Luna, Siargao. You can explore the island in a few minutes. There are mats and tables scattered around here where you can sit while enjoying some fruit shakes and snacks (fries, burger, etc.) that you can order from a store here. There taro milkshake is really good. Try their burger and fries as well. There’s also a swing nearby where tour guides can take human drone videos. Just give them a tip, ₱50 ($0.88) to ₱100 ($1.76) will do. You can also play beach volleyball here.
- Guyam Island Entrance Fee: ₱50 ($0.88) per person
- SECRET ISLAND – This isn’t actually part of the tour package but our guide brought us here as a surprise tourist spot. Secret Island is actually a sandbar that appears when the tide is low. The water here is so clear and turquoise, and the sand is powdery white, perfect for swimming. Be careful while walking here, please do not step on the starfish here, please don’t touch them nor take them out of the water for photo ops.
OTHER ISLANDS:
Because it was my first time in Siargao, I’ve yet to visit the other islands. I only booked the basic Tri-Island Hopping Tour. So, I really can’t tell you anything about it. I learned about these other islands when one of the vans offering the tour was outside our resort and the driver asked us if we booked the Corregidor Island tour because they’re supposed to pick up someone from our hotel.
- MAM-ON ISLAND
- CORREGIDOR ISLAND

2. SIARGAO LAND TOUR
If you’re going to avail of only one tour in Siargao, make it the Siargao Land Tour. This tour is quite holistic as it includes a trip to different types of Siargao tourist spots like Coconut Mountain View, Maasin River, Magpupungko Rockpools, and Sugba Lagoon. You can book through the link below:

COCONUT MOUNTAIN VIEW (COCONUT TREES VIEW DECK)
Aside from surfing at Cloud 9, one of the most popular tourist spots in Siargao is the Coconut Mountain View. This coconut plantation is actually situated just along the Siargao Circumferential Road, so be careful when taking photos of your friends or group tour mates because of the passing vehicles. Here, you can enjoy a scenic view of coconut trees as far as your eyes can see.

MAASIN RIVER
Another popular Siargao tourist spot near the Coconut Mountain View along the Siargao Circumferential Road in Dapa, is the Maasin River. This scenic emerald green river is fringed by palm trees and was first made popular by a foreign influencer on Instagram because of the bent palm tree here. Later on, locals installed a swing, and people started flocking here for the Tarzan Swing. Then another local offered his small paddle boat for a minimal fee to tourist to cruise the river. Unfortunately, a storm eventually destroyed the poor palm tree. Maasin River is now quite developed, the bent palm tree was replaced by a viewing and cliff jumping deck. Tourists can also go boating here.
- Entrance Fee: ₱50 ($0.89)
- Guide Fee: Up to you, but I read somewhere it’s ₱50 ($0.89) per person. We tipped more, because our guide told us it depends on us, so we didn’t know how much to give. They can take a human drone shot here.

MAGPUPUNGKO ROCKPOOL
Siargao exudes with dramatic coastlines blissfully devoid of luxury trappings. Another popular tourist destination in Siargao is the Magpupungko Rockpool. A natural rockpool with emerald green water that is perfect for swimming. This is one of my favorite spots in the island. Just make sure to time to your visit during low tide when the rockpool is exposed. And make sure you’re wearing appropriate shoes – aqua shoes will do since you will be walking along sharp, dead coral rocks.
If you’re the adventurous type, you can even cliff jump here. Nearby is Magpupungko Beach with incessant waves, but I wouldn’t dare swim there. There’s a local guide that offers live vest for a minimal fee and would also take your photos and videos and hold your gadgets while you go swimming. Just give him a tip. ₱100 ($1.78) – ₱150 ($2.67) per person should do. Up to you.
Magpupungko Rockpool is usually the spot for lunch for the Siargao Land Tours. The shoreline here is dappled with small eateries. Viands starts at ₱75 ($1.78) per serving. The meals is usually included if you join the group tour.
- Entrance Fee: ₱50 ($0.89)

SUGBA LAGOON
Surigao del Norte is oozing with immaculate natural attractions like the emerald green lagoons and lakes dappled around the region. Sugba Lagoon is another famous tourist destination that is part of the Siargao Land Tour. This gorgeous lagoon with clear sea green to blue green water is wrapped by jungle-clad hills, ideal for swimming, kayaking, cliff jumping, and snorkeling. This is one of my favorites stops during the Siargao Land Tour.
Even the journey to Sugba Lagoon from Del Carmen Pier is so worth it. You’ll pass by scenic mangrove forests amidst local communities where houses are built on stilts.
- Entrance Fee: ₱100 ($1.78)
- Boat Fee Rental at Sugba Lagoon: ₱2,150 ($38.32), good for 6 pax

3.SOHOTON COVE TOUR
You don’t have to empty you wallet and fly to Palau to swim with the jellyfish, because Sohoton National Park can offer that to you for a rather affordable rate! Head to Bucas Grande and be stunned by the caves, lagoons and postcard-perfect coral life! Good news is, you can reach Sohoton via Siargao day tours now. Though I still recommend staying at a day or two in Bucas Grande to explore its natural attractions, the Sohoton Cove Day from Siargao can let you experience the beauty of this ruggedly enchanting destination in a day. The tour includes a visit to the following:
- swimming with the stingless jellyfish at Sohoton Lagoon
- cliff jumping at Magkukuob Cave
- swimming at the luminous Hagukan Cave
- lunch, cliff jumping, and swimming at Tiktikan Lagoon
SOHOTON COVE TOUR: RESERVE HERE or BOOK HERE
Sohoton Day Tour inclusion:

I’ll write a separate DIY travel guide for Sohoton via Bucas Grande Island and Surigao, in case you want to stay overnight there and experience a more comprehensive tour of the island.
*The Sohoton tour guides and boatman are really hard working and helpful. They will take your photos, assist you all the way, and make sure your gadgets are safe. So please if you can, give them some tip.
4.SURFING
Siargao is the Surfing Capital of the Philippines and this surfing haven has an all-year-condition for surfing. To know the best spots for surfing, just ask the local surfers for recommendations, because the surfing spot is different every season. The best season for surfing in Siargao is September to early December and all surf spots are good.
The most popular surfing spots in Siargao during summer are Cloud 9, Cemetery, Pacifico, Quiksilver, Jacking Horse, and Tuason. Meanwhile, during December to March, you can try the lesser-known spots like Pilar, Giwan, Rock Island, Stimpy’s, Tangbo and Salvacion.
CLOUD 9
If you’re a first timer in Siargao, you probably want to get to Cloud 9, the most popular surfing spot in the island. This place is actually located in General Luna, and since it’s not usually part of the tour packages, you have to get there on your own. Best time to visit for first timers is during low tide and sunset. You can walk on the famous boardwalk and enjoy the sunset and watching the surfers.
- Opening Hours: Open anytime
- Address: Cloud 9, General Luna
- GPS Location: 9°48’49.2″N 126°09’54.5″E
- How to get to Cloud 9: You can either rent a tricycle from your accommodation or General Luna town proper, or rent a motorbike and drive to get there.
I honestly haven’t tried surfing in Siargao because our time was limited. It was my first time in the island, so I prioritized the tours. I thought I could visit Cloud 9 on our last day but it was raining and the place was so far from our resort, so, we decided to look for the Secret Beach nearby instead. Anyway, if you’re looking to try surfing in Siargao, there’s a plethora of trained surf instructors that can assist you and help you find a surf board for rent. You can also rent surfboards in advance, especially during surf peak season to secure one. You can rent through the link below.
SIARGAO SURFBOARD RENTAL (5 HRS): RESERVE HERE
SIARGAO SURF LESSON (2 HRS with surfboard + instructor): RESERVE HERE or BOOK HERE
5. WAKEBOARDING
Not everyone knows there’s a wakeboarding park in Siargao, and it’s in General Luna. We drove by motorbike going here, and the road fringed by coconut trees was pretty scenic. I find Siargao Wake park pretty relaxing, as it is peppered with towering palm trees and was uncrowded during our visit. It is home to 2 lakes; the main lake is about 100 m long and 30 m wide and is connected by a pool gap to the smaller lake. The main lake is where beginner and intermediate riders ride.
Wakeboarding in Siargao is not just for adults, it’s also good for kids, perfect if you’re looking for a family activity here. During our visit, there was a family with kids trying wakeboarding, and surprisingly, they learn better than adults! They can stand on the surfboard immediately, unlike us! LOL Aside from wakeboarding, Siargao Wake park also offers hydro foiling, surfing, and water zipline. They also have a refreshing restaurant here, perfect for drinking and dining after your session.

6. SUNSET WATCHING AT AFAM BRIDGE (CATANGNAN BRIDGE)
Catangnan-Cabitoonan Bridge in Siargao is one of the best spots for sunset-watching in Siargao, with unobstructed view of the blazing sky at dusk. This 349-meter bridge that connects Brgy. Catangnan and Cabitoonan village is lighted by solar lights. It’s a popular hang-out spot for tourists and locals, and is now nicknamed Afam Bridge because of the foreigners hanging out here. This is a bit of a drive from downtown General Luna so make sure you leave about 30 minutes from your location to get here before the sunset. Sunset time vary every day, just Google the time. The area before the bridge is packed with stores selling food and souvenirs, there are also restaurants and bars nearby.
- Opening Hours: anytime

7. BEACH HOPPING
MALINAO BEACH
My hotel – Ferra Resort is tucked quietly in Malinao Beach. If you’re looking for an uncrowded, cream sand beach in Siargao, you can get here from downtown General Luna for about 20 minutes. It’s a swimmable beach during summer, fringed with palm trees. Some areas have huts where you can rent if you’re a large group.

- Address: Malinao, General Luna
- GPS Location:9°45’55.1″N 126°07’39.2″E

DOOT BEACH (SECRET BEACH)
A popular beach near Malinao Beach is Doot Beach (Secret Beach), we wanted to get here from Malinao Beach but it was already raining heavily. So, we decided to just spend the day in Malinao Beach. Some friends have visited Secret Beach and can attest that it’s a swimmable, powdery white sand beach. Nadine Lustre, a famous Pinay actress, who lives in Siargao usually posts this beach on her IG account, reason why it has now rose to fame.

PACIFICO BEACH
Blissfully situated on the northeastern shore of Siargao Island, this is another favorite surf spot in the island. It’s about an hour drive from General Luna. If you’re doing a DIY Siargao Land Tour by motorcycle, you can include this in your itinerary.
- Opening Hours: Anytime

- HOW TO GET TO PACIFICO BEACH: You can rent a motorbike and drive yourself to Pacifico Beach, travel time is roughly 1 hour.
8. FOOD TRIP
What I like about Siargao compared to other tropical islands in the Philippines is the abundance of restaurants and bars where food is an attraction in itself. Problem is, you’ll be overwhelmed with choices, so best to research in advance before you trip. My big mistake was, we didn’t. Thankfully, a Cebuano friend asked the question “Where to Eat in Siargao?” on his Facebook account, and I just noted the answers from his friends. The recommendations where actually good, but we weren’t able to try them all since we only needed to eat out for dinner because our tours already cover lunch.
KERMIT SIARGAO
Serves the best brick oven pizza in Siargao. It’s a restaurant in downtown Siargao serving Italian food like pizza and pasta, and Filipino and Asian dishes as well. We ordered Kermit brick pizza topped with provolone, gorgonzola, parmesan and Parma ham for ₱630 ($11.11), herbed crusted Mahi-Mahi or Tuna ₱420 ($7.40) and Grilled Pork Chop with Polenta ₱390 ($11.11). We loved the Kermit Pizza and the Herbed Tuna! The grilled pork chop is a NO for me, it was hard to chew, but I like the polenta that comes with it. Their pasta is also popular too, but we didn’t order it because we want to eat rice. LOL Kermit Siargao Restaurant doesn’t accept reservation, only walk-in. Be there early as the line can get pretty long during summer and peak season especially during dinner! But it was worth the wait. They also have a bar, but we didn’t get to try their drinks.
- Price Range: Pasta starts at ₱290 ($5.11); Pizza starts at ₱390 ($6.88); Main entrees start at ₱320 ($5.64)
- What to Order: Kermit Pizza, herbed crusted Mahi-Mahi or Tuna. Try their famous pasta.

- Address: 5 Purok Kermit Surf Resort, General Luna, Siargao
- GPS Location: 9°56’40.7″N 126°06’01.4″E
CEV (Ceviche and Kinilaw Shack)
This was the top recommendations on the FB thread of my friend so we really wanted to try it. Almost everyone that commented, suggested CEV. Problem is, they’re known for serve ceviche and kinilaw type dishes and we didn’t want to eat that after our tiring tour. We wanted to try comfort food like pizza and pasta and rice meals. So, we tried to visit it on our 3rd day, but we were no longer allowed to enter since the kitchen was already close. Turns out the restaurant is only open until 9:00 PM, and last order is at 8:30 PM. So we made sure to return earlier on our 2nd try and thankfully, we got a table after a few minutes of waiting.
The food? It was worth a try! We love their ceviche and kinilaw’s punchy flavor. They’re fresh and tasty. We tried their Pacifico (Ceviche), which is their catch of the day with calamansi, coconut milk leche de tigre, boiled sweet potato, fried sweet potato, roasted corn, chili garlic oil, and onions, priced at ₱340 ($6.08). We also wanted to try their kinilaw, so we had General Luna ₱340 ($6.08), which is their catch of the day drenched in coconut milk and vinegar and mixed with grilled eggplant, salted black beans, spiced mango, onions, & basil oil paired with garlic rice. We also had Grilled Fish Jaw (panga) for ₱240 ($4.29).
- Price Range: Main Course (Kinilaw + Ceviche) starts at ₱340 ($6.08)
- What to Order: Pacifico, General Luna, and Grilled Fish Jaw (panga)

- Address: 5 Purok Kermit Surf Resort, General Luna, Siargao
- GPS Location: 9°47’16.5″N 126°09’28.6″E
HAPPINESS RESTAURANT SIARGAO
We stumbled on this place while looking for a place to dine in Siargao. We were so disappointed with our restaurant choice the previous night so we decided to find a place that looks decent and packed. The place was crowded because of the Happy Hour running at their bar during our visit. They even shut down the main lights at 9:00 PM for the bar, but they gave us a little lamp on the table, so we were quite disappointed with that. I hope they separate the restaurant from the bar. The food was great though. We had Hi Baba and Hummus perfectly paired with pita, they also charge extra 5% as service charge.
- Price Range: Hummus starts at ₱390 ($6.98)
- What to Order: Hi Baba ₱420 ($7.52), Hummus Happiness ₱390 ($6.98)
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Drinks

- Address: Tourism Road, Catangnan, General Luna, Siargao
- GPS Location: 9°48’05.6″N 126°09’20.3″E
9. NIGHT LIFE
Siargao has a lively night life, and if you’re a first timer in the island. You might want to try one of their bars at night. I noticed that bars usually have their own schedule for parties. As of my last visit, here’s the night life party schedule in Siargao for 2024:

10. SHOP FOR SOUVENIRS
Siargao is peppered with souvenirs shops that never stopped expanding. Everywhere you go, you can find a shop that sells souvenirs. And they’re pretty affordable, especially the shirts, cropped tops, caps, bag and key chains. We’re able to buy shirts worth ₱150 ($2.67) up. Your best bet is buying along General Luna’s Tourism Road. But there are also shops found in popular tourist spots like Maasin River. Nogs Souvenir Shop is one of the popular tourist shops in Siargao. You can also find specialty shops nearby if you’re looking for something unique or handcrafted.

SIARGAO AIRPORT TO GENERAL LUNA
There are 3 ways to get from Siargao Airport (Sayak Airport) to General Luna or Cloud 9 if your hotel doesn’t offer an airport pick-up:
1. SIARGAO AIRPORT TRANSFER
If your hotel doesn’t offer an Airport pick-up, you can book online in advance for a private airport transfer from Siargao Airport to downtown General Luna or your hotel. You can book through the link below.
SIARGAO AIRPORT TRANSFER (PRIVATE/BEST FOR 3 PAX): RESERVE HERE or BOOK HERE
2. BY VAN
Once you get out of Siargao Airport, there are several vans waiting outside to take you to downtown General Luna, Siargao’s tourist center or Cloud 9. Take note though that this won’t take you directly to your hotel. So if you want a door-to-door delivery to your hotel, your best bet is a private airport transfer or hiring a tricycle. Van fare from Siargao Airport to General Luna or Cloud 9 is ₱350 ($6.26) per person. Travel time is roughly 1 hour. It leaves hourly from 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM daily.
3. TRICYCLE
If you have heavy bags and you’re traveling in groups (3-4), you can save a few back if you rent a tricycle. Tricycle fare from Siargao Airport to General Lune or Cloud 9 is roughly ₱600 ($10.74).
GETTING AROUND SIARGAO
If you’re done with your tour and you want to just get around in Siargao, you can rent a motorbike and self-drive. Take note that a driver’s license is required.
SIARGAO MOTORBIKE RENTAL (good for 2 pax): RESERVE HERE or RENT HERE
If you’re not keen on driving a motorbike or you don’t know how to drive. You can just ride a tricycle or rent one. I’m not sure about the minimum fare but we’re told by our driver that for trips from downtown General Luna to Malinao Beach, which is roughly 19 minutes, fare is roughly ₱50 ($0.89).
SIARGAO TUKTUK RENTAL (self-drive, good for 4 pax): RENT HERE
