Tinagong Dagat is a rising tourist spot in Sipalay, Negros Occidental. This picturesque destination is blissfully hidden in Sitio Latasan in Sipalay town, hence the local name “Tinagong Dagat” that means hidden hill. Viewed from the air, the beautiful blend of denim blue and seafoam green sea is riddled with green islets.
Tinagong Dagat has long been a magnet of local tourists. It’s actually a beach resort that is sitting on a shallow, green sea that is peppered with smaller islands. Upon entering the resort, you will be greeted by a 150 meter long bamboo hanging bridge that connects the smaller islands to Latasan or Tinagong Dagat extension.
What I like about this resort is, you don’t really need a drone to appreciate its beauty. Tourist can enjoy its panoramic view from a viewing deck on top of the limestone hill inside the resort. You need to climb about 123 steps to reach the highest spot, which can be tiring for some tourists. But don’t fret because there are also benches sprinkled here so you can take a rest for a while if you’re already tired. But it’s really worth the effort because the view here is really jaw-dropping. You can even see the equally charming Perth Paradise Resort nearby.
If you still can’t get enough of the view here, there are outrigger boats available for island hopping. Expect to pay around PHP 1,700 per boat, good for 4 -6 persons. You can inquire from the resort or boatmen to visit the smaller islands nearby and to swim in Sipalay beaches, since the beach in Tinagong Island itself is not really recommended for swimming.
