Since its grand opening in September 2005, Disneyland Hong Kong has attracted millions of tourists yearly. Experiencing Hong Kong on a holiday will not be complete without visiting Disneyland which flaunts 7 themes now.
Upon entering the park, visitors will be warmly welcomed by the Anaheim-inspired Hong Kong Disneyland Main Street USA. For adventurous kids, take them to Adventure Land to see Tarzan’s Treehouse while on a Jungle Cruise.Don’t miss watching one of the most famous shows in the theme park – The Festival of the Lion King. Be amazed at the futuristic rides of Tomorrowland, enjoy the Buzz Lightyear and Astroblasters. Toy Story Land is the home of Woody, Rex, Luxo and friends. I enjoyed the thrilling ride here! The Grizzly Gulch and Mystic Point are the most recent addition to Disneyland Hongkong.
But Fantasyland is the scene of every little girl’s childhood fantasy and my personal favorite since our last visit. The gorgeous Sleeping Beauty Castle soars in the heart of the theme park. It’s like seeing a castle for real and meeting the resident lovely princesses! Pretty little girls dressed in their cutesy fairy tale-inspired gowns lining up to get a photo with the fairy tale princess are a usual scene here.
But it’s when the sun goes down that Disneyland Hong Kong sizzles and becomes more magical. My sister was having a tummy problem so she returned back to our room in Disney Hollywood Hotel. While I was so ecstatic to see the iconic Disneyland fireworks up close. The previous night we were busy dining at one of the restaurants inside so we only got to catch it from afar.
I waited from dusk till the sky turned black despite the cold weather. My long wait finally paid off as I got to see the castle lit up and sparkle in changing hues at night. It was one of the most unforgettable evenings of my life. As soon as that classic Disney ins the Stars song was played while the fireworks adorned the cloudless sky, I was teary-eyed. How I wish that my sister was beside me that time. It was surreal, like a childhood fantasy just came true!
We also watched the sensational star-studded musical at the Golden Mickey’s Theater featuring Disney classics like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Toy Story, Tarzan, Lilo and Stitch and Mickey Mouse and friends.
You can actually meet and have a photo op with your favorite Disney character like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy and Donald Duck at the verdant Fantasy Garden. But since my sister and I already met them on our breakfast at Disneyland Hotel, we didn’t line up, instead we headed to check other rides in Fantasyland.
Pooh Fans will surely be ecstatic to ride Pooh’s hunny pot at the Hundred-Acre Wood or play with Tiger and Piglet. Hop on one of the beautiful horses at the Cinderalla Carousel or fly along with Dumbo! Spin around while riding on the Mad Platter Tea Cups which makes you feel like you’re Alice in Wonderland! Go visit and be charmed by the Small World!
Disneyland Hong Kong is undoubtedly a dream come true for children and those who are kids at heart!
